We do love a tipi wedding in Lancashire. This is when the bride and groom do things their way and we just love the creativity that shines through when everything comes together for the wedding day.
Carolyne and Elliott had booked the field of Colne Cricket Club to hold their tipi wedding.
I had been chatting to Carolyne for sometime before the big day and she described how their wedding was going to be a very informal day with a festival-style feel. This sounded just perfect and I was really looking forward to meeting both Carolyne and Elliott on their wedding day.
The Big Day
I met Elliott as he was greeting guests. The tipi looked just wonderful, so many creative little touches dotted around everywhere, it already had that festival feel. Proper vinyl records displaying the table plan, hog roast (of course) and the best idea for a wedding cake, well make that wedding cakes! The great Colne bake off. Carolyne and Elliott had the genius idea of getting everyone to bake a cake and they would judge the winner later in the day.
Just before Carolyne arrived in a very cool camper van, the heavens opened up. Oh my did it rain, no way this was going to dampen the spirits of anybody at this wedding. During the celebrant ceremony there was singing and so much smiles and laughter. What a lively bunch these guys are. Right on cue, just as the ceremony had come to a close, the rain stopped. This give us perfect opportunity to go outdoors for photographs.
Elliott had four, yes FOUR best men, who all took part in the speeches. A game of True or False where Elliott had to hold up cards with Facebook statements of his that were either True Or False. If all the guests guessed correctly then poor Elliott had to have a shot. I don’t think they got many wrong as quite a few shots were downed by Elliott.
This wedding really had it all. Fantastic music, everybody up for having a laugh and most of all a fantastic couple who really know how to throw a party.
Tipi Weddings
We have photographed quite a few tipi weddings as wedding photographers. They really are a great idea for those creative couples who want to celebrate their big day informally. They create a brilliant atmosphere and can support any styling ideas. We have shot tipit weddings in lovely home gardens to big countryside fields and even farms around Lancashire.
Here are some of our favourites from Carolyne & Elliott’s day..
