A Beautiful Old Palace Chester Wedding Photography with Faith & Tom. When Faith phoned me and said, “Please tell me you are available to photograph my wedding” at The Old Palace in Chester, I knew this was going to be something special!
Old Palace Chester
Overlooking the River Dee in the historic town of Chester, the Old Palace is a beautiful exclusive wedding venue.
Every room at the Old Palace is filled with grandeur. The Morning Room is a dedicated wedding preparation room with hair and make-up stations, full length mirror, and lots of room to relax and drink a couple of proseccos before the big day ahead.
For the ceremony, The River Room is filled with natural light and looks out onto a secret garden. The Ballroom can fit up to 150 of your wedding guests beneath a stunning chandelier and mirrored ceiling.
There is lots of space outdoors for the drinks reception looking over the river.
Welcome drinks are great in the Arrival Hall and the cosy Peploe Lounge before the wedding party can move seamlessly into the Ballroom for wedding breakfast and of course the big evening party.
Winter Wedding At The Old Palace
Faith and Tom had to change their original wedding date due to the pandemic which seriously hit the wedding industry. So we penciled in the 27th of December. A winter wedding at the Old Palace.
Faith had said on quite a few occasions leading up to the wedding that their wedding is “All about the party!” They wanted to celebrate their marriage with their nearest and dearest without having to spend hours on end posing for the camera. Music to my ears!
I met Faith on the day of the wedding as she was getting ready with her team in the Morning Room. Tom and the lads arrived at the Old Palace looking very dapper in their black-tie attire.
Faith looked stunning in her wedding dress. The reactions on her parents and bridesmaids faces said it all. It was time to get the show on the road!
A Beautiful Ceremony In The River Room
Wedding guests made their way to be seated in the River Room. Tom stood patiently waiting for his wife to be as she met him at the end of the aisle. Everyone looked on with glowing faces as Faith and Tom exchanged their vows.
After they tied the knot, Faith punched the air holding her bouquet as they walked back up the aisle together as husband and wife.
A Moment Alone In The Bridal Suite
After the ceremony, everybody made their way outside to congratulate the newlyweds with handfuls of confetti. We grabbed a few formal group photographs in the foyer of the Old Palace.
It was a cold December day and had just started raining at this point. We decided that would escape to the bridal suite for 10 minutes to get some lovely, natural photos of Faith and Tom together.
Drinks Reception & Speeches
After a few drinks, everyone made their way to The Ballroom for food and speeches. Tom’s speech had everyone in tears as he showed a pre-recorded video of himself and the children from Faith’s school letting her know how fondly they think of her. It was a really touching moment, great work Tom!
The best man didn’t hold back and had Tom hiding his face in his hands on quite a few occasions throughout. He had everyone in fits of laughter, which is always a good sign of a good speech!
Magic & Dancing at The Old Palace Chester
As the staff turned the room around for the evening reception, it was time for a few more drinks and some incredible magic from Danny Jewell. Everyone was shocked in amazement by the tricks Danny was performing, none more so than the new Mr & Mrs Bell.
It was then time for the party, which I know damn well that Faith and Tom had been looking forward to the most.
How do I put this? It went off!! Packed the dancefloor, amazing band blasting out all the classics, and everybody was well in the mood for a good time. It had been a long time coming after all, and these guys did not disappoint.
I do love a good party at a wedding, it’s got to be said!

Old Palace Chester Reviews
“Old Palace Chester I cannot thank you enough for making my wedding the perfect day. The staff were amazing nothing was too much trouble. The venue is stunning and the food amazing. If we could do it all over again we wouldn’t change a thing.“
“Well what can I say? What an AMAZING wedding venue! 5 stars all the way. The staff are second to non. There wasn’t anything that was too much trouble. They looked after the bride and groom and all the family members so well! I had the privilege of shooting a wedding here yesterday and the staff members really looked after me! That may seem strange to some people but I was overwhelmed how much they took the time out to ask ME if I was OK and had everything I needed. Sometimes the wedding photographer gets ignored a bit and I was amazed when I was told “The photographer is SO important and a HUGE part of the day. We need to look after you” And they absolutely looked after me!
They organised the guests for the confetti shot which was a huge help. They constantly asked me if I was OK and I had everything I needed.
Then the food. JUST WOW. I had once of the nicest meals, from a wedding, and the pizzas at night from the HUGE pizza oven was amazing.
Thank you all again for looking after me so well.
If you are looking for a hidden gem which is exclusive to your and your wedding party, then look NO further!! Please go and take a look.”
