Manchester Hall wedding Photography in my favourite city! Do you know what I love the most about photographing a wedding? A good party, and oh my was this a good party! I don’t think I stopped all day and night, so much going on from start to finish!
Manchester Hall Wedding Venue
Sophie & James got in touch with me to photograph their wedding but they explained that they were doing things a little differently than the norm. They were to have their wedding ceremony, drinks reception, and meal at Manchester Hall then they were going to a cocktail bar on Deansgate Manchester, to party the rest of the night away. This just sounded amazing to me!
I met Sophie with her mum and bridesmaids on the day of the wedding at The Lowry hotel in Manchester. You could tell as soon as I walked in that they were all in the mood for a great party. I even let a couple of the bridesmaids have a go of my camera, they actually didn’t do too bad taking a few photos, no pressure then!
The pressure was on when Sophie got her dress out, everyone was made to wear white gloves if handling the dress, and rightly so, it was a stunning wedding dress! Did look like a scene from my raving days for a minute or so, I was expecting a whistle to be pulled out when they were dancing around and throwing shapes wearing the gloves.
Ceremony At Manchester Hall
I made the short walk across to Manchester Hall to meet James as he was greeting all the guests as they turned up to the venue.
Everyone gathered in The Drawing Room for the ceremony. As the music was queued, Sophie made her way down to the aisle with her dad and joined James in front of the large windows which had lovely light shining on them both.
Drinks And Magic
After Sophie and James tied the knot, they were joined by everyone in The Study for drinks and the amazing magic from Brad B. I have seen this guy twice now at Manchester Hall weddings and he’s absolutely blown me away, and I think you can tell by the wedding guests’ reaction that they were also lost for words. Magic and the reactions it creates definitely make for great photographs!
We also managed to step outside for a little walk before the party ahead. Sophie and James didn’t want any portraits so we kept this very natural.
Singing Waiters And A Crazy Party
Singing waiters always gets people in the mood for a party. After some food, people can get a little tired so a couple of people getting you up on your chairs and belting out some classics is a great way to get the energy back.
I would always recommend filling the gaps with some sort of entertainment at a wedding. It keeps everyone up for it and there is always something great to photograph and your photographer can capture some brilliant reactions and moments.
These guys had everyone up on their feet and singing their hearts out. Some even got naked, I really didn’t expect that coming! Sophie was moved to tears at one point, the energy was so good!
Speeches And Walk Through Manchester To The Cocktail Bar
After the crazy shenanigans and singing it was time to calm it down a little for a few speeches from the father of the bride, the groom, and the best ladies. (more best ladies at weddings please!) Sophie again couldn’t hold back the tears, you could really see how close the best ladies and Sophie are.
Time for the first dance and a little boogie before we all made our way across Manchester to a cocktail bar where the party carried on into the late hours.
Absolutely amazing wedding packed with so much energy, making my job a real joy! Thanks so much for having me Sophie & James! X
Fantastic team as always…

Manchester Hall
Manchester Hall is one of my favourite venues to photograph weddings in the city. In the heart of Manchester City centre, Manchester Hall has 14 beautiful unique rooms, perfect for weddings large and small. All rooms are unique and rich in architectural detail.
The Drawing Room: The Drawing Room can hold up to 50 guests. Perfect for intimate weddings, guests can then enjoy the wedding breakfast and evening party in the connecting Gallery room.
The Gallery: This room is perfect for intimate wedding parties. It has been perfectly maintained since the building first opened with windows opening to a balcony overlooking the busy Bridge Street. Really nice for photos of the bride and groom together.
The Club Room: Is a lovely room for an intimate wedding. It can also hold up to 50 guests for weddings with oak panelled walls and a marble fireplace.
The Library: The Library is joined to the Museum Room and the study to make a full suite, however, the Library can also be booked for smaller intimate ceremonies for up to 50 guests.
The Museum: The Museum can seat up to 100 guests. The room is on the second floor of Manchester Hall. It has a light, classic design and an ornate painted ceiling. A beautiful space for a wedding.
The Study: The Study follows the same design as the larger museum room and it is the perfect space for smaller wedding ceremonies as it can also cater for up to 50 guests.
The Goulburn Lodge: This room can hold up to 140 guests, it still has its original Freemason chequerboard flooring and oak panelled walls.
Goulburn Suite: This room can hold up to 350 guests! A stunning room which can be booked as a full suite with two separate rooms, perfect for larger parties. The amazing room still maintains its original features and grand design dating back to the 1920s. Perfect for a wedding breakfast or an evening party.
