I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to be Lauren and Matthew’s photographer at Knowsley Hall wedding venue in Prescot, Merseyside. Knowsley Hall has been welcoming royalty since it opened its doors in 1495, so it must feel very special to be able to have your wedding at such a magical wedding venue.
Wedding Day At Knowsley Hall
I had a zoom call with Lauren and Matthew during the height of the pandemic (remember that?) and we hit it off straight away. I have so much admiration for Lauren as she is a paramedic and as we all know, she works so hard and especially during that crazy time. I couldn’t wait to be part of their Knowsley Hall wedding.
Driving up to the huge giant gates at Knowsley Hall, you instantly get the feeling that this is a very special wedding venue.
I met Lauren and team bride as they were getting ready for the big day ahead. Matthew arrived with his best man and ushers as they gathered at the entrance to Knowsley Hall and greeted guests as they arrived. A few finishing makeup touches for Lauren before we made our way to the bridal suite (Lord Derby’s suite) so she could get into her wedding dress.
Ceremony In The Stucco Ballroom
Created in the 18th century, The Stucco Ballroom is where Lauren and Matthew would tie the knot, it is such a beautiful room to get married. Lauren walked down the grand staircase with her dad and was then walked down the aisle to meet Matthew who was blown away when he saw her. Lots of laughs and cheeky grins were shared as Lauren and Matthew married surrounded by family and friends.
Lauren and Matthew walked back up the aisle together as husband and wife and were congratulated by loved ones. The weather was hit and miss so we were unsure if we could go outside for confetti and group photographs, but the rain clouds parted and the sun finally came out so we managed to get a big group photograph of everyone on the main steps of Knowsley Hall and a great confetti shot just outside the entrance to the driveway.
All group photographs were done as the Northern String Quartet played beautifully.
Couples Photographs Around The Stunning Grounds Of Knowsley Hall
We just had to take a walk with the newlyweds around the endless grounds that surround Knowsley hall wedding venue. We had a stroll to the lake and I gave Lauren and Matthew some alone time and got a great shot of them walking by the lake. We slowly made our way through the stunning gardens and to the front of Knowsley Hall, which is also an incredible backdrop for photos.
Speeches In The State Dining Room
One of my favourite rooms, The State Dining Room is absolutely stunning for wedding breakfast and speeches.
Lauren’s dad was first to stand and give his brilliant speech, followed by Matthew and his best man. All were perfectly delivered to guests who listened on with big smiles and toasts to the newlyweds.
Wedding Reception And A Stunning Sunset
After the speeches and fantastic food, everyone gathered in the Drawing Room for drinks as the sun began to set. Lauren and Matthew made their way to the centre of the dance floor for their first dance. They were soon joined by their guests for an evening of singing and dancing into the late hours.
As the sun set, I stole Lauren and Mattew away from the dance floor for a moment together during the golden hour. The light was just stunning! A perfect end to a truly beautiful day!

Knowsley Hall Wedding
One of the most luxurious wedding venues I have had the privilege of photographing weddings, Knowsley hall has been welcoming royalty and distinguished guests since 1495. This stately home is now an exclusive Knowsley hall wedding venue. Set within 2,500 acres of a private walled estate.
Knowsley Hall is a grand stately home that is home to The Earl & Countess of Derby.
For weddings, it has 17 beautiful bedrooms, surrounded by stunning gardens. Knowsley Hall can host intimate weddings for 60 guests or larger celebrations of up to 132 guests.
LORD DERBY’S SUITE is a luxurious honeymoon suite. It has a super king size four poster bed with a separate Dressing Room which is perfect for getting ready in. It also has an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and bath.
The Stucco Ballroom with its beautiful gold-encrusted left details and original grand fireplace is the perfect room for your wedding ceremony.
After your ceremony during the spring and summer months, you can enjoy drinks and canapes on the terrace, overlooking the perfectly manicured gardens, fountain and lake. And again, the perfect backdrop for family and couple photographs.
The State Dining Room is where you can enjoy your wedding breakfast with family and friends. With it’s 50ft high ceiling, huge gold chandelier and roaring fires make it a really majestic setting.
A Knowsley Hall Wedding has an amazing space for the evening reception to party the night away.
Knowsley Hall Wedding Reviews
*****“We attended Knowsley Hall for a wedding. Wow wee, what a venue for anyone to hold a ceremony and party to celebrate their big day. It was fabulous. The grounds are just beautiful and the house holds so much heritage and history; you can feel it.
All the staff were very attentive, nothing was a problem, all food allergies were dealt with seriously (my husband has Ceoliac disease) and the food was super tasty. The drinks at the bar were very reasonably priced too.
Hats off to every single staff member for making such an effort to make the day special to the bride and groom and everyone else celebrating with them.”
*****“Magnificent venue, beautiful gardens and views, food was amazing, the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, made my daughter’s wedding day one of the most memorable days for everybody. I can’t praise them enough, they made sure everything was perfect”
